What is a reading level? A reading level is a guide that is used to be sure that children are exposed to books that are appropriate for their skill level. In order for children to improve and flourish as independent readers, they must read books that are easily within the range of their ability.
At Kaplan, we list titles according to their Guided Reading Level. This is a level that is commonly used in classrooms for both group and independent reading. For convenience, we have created a correlation chart to align the Guided Reading Levels to other popular methods of measuring reading ability.
